Job summary

Building Recruitment Co Ltd in Cardiff is recruiting a Support Worker for a fixed-term contract to support homeless young people aged 16-21 in supported accommodation. You will provide safe, person-centred and trauma-informed support to help them move towards independent living.

Key duties include delivering 1:1 and group sessions, creating individual plans, coordinating with children’s services, welfare rights and housing options, and safeguarding through multi-agency working.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering supported accommodation for high-need individuals.
• Knowledge of homelessness challenges, especially youth.
• Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and relevant legislation.
• Experience with person-centred support planning and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of tenancy rights and housing benefits.
• Experience of advice, advocacy and mediation.
• Full driving licence and car with business insurance (or workable alternative).
• Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver key working with 1:1 and group sessions, creating individual support plans.
• Help young people prepare for independence: daily living skills, welfare rights, housing options, and education.
• Create move-on plans and housing pathways for each young person.
• Support looked-after children and care-experienced youths with Cardiff Children’s Services.
• Safeguard young people through multi-agency working and attend meetings.
• Collaborate with social workers, health services, police, and housing professionals.
• Maintain case notes and outcome data in a Psychologically Informed Environment.
