Job Description

Our Telford site has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Team Leader to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.

As a Transport Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising the Transport Operations Team and the driver team, including the daily planning of company and third-party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers receive clear, precise instructions and are fully utilized.

Shift: 4 on 4 off, 6pm-6am.

Salary: £32,780 per annum, plus £1,000 attendance bonus.

Key Duties of Transport Team Leader:

  • Allocate drivers and vehicles to loads efficiently, considering holidays, sickness, drivers' hours, and WTD regulations.
  • Plan driver start times to meet the site's dispatch KPIs.
  • Communicate proactively with third-party hauliers to ensure adherence to collection times.
  • Coordinate with the shunting operation for pre-loading and unloading.
  • Maintain clear communication with drivers regarding start times, load information, and directions.
  • Ensure orders are dispatched and delivered in the correct condition, meeting customer specifications.
  • Notify collection or delivery points of any delays.
  • Maintain service levels in conjunction with other departments.
  • Assign equipment for maintenance and service as per the maintenance planner's instructions.
  • Follow health and safety policies, reporting all accidents.

Qualifications

  • Transport experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for accurate information delivery.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Professional, approachable, and helpful demeanor.
  • Knowledge of tachograph, driving rules, and regulations.
  • CPC National desirable but not essential.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Effective workload prioritization to meet deadlines.
