The Whittan Group is the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom. Operating through a number of market leading brands; we design, manufacture and install storage solutions for commercial and industrial environments in the UK and Europe.

We are looking for a Team Leader to support the Production Manager in the management of all operational activities within their value stream including the leading and development of employees and achievement of production targets and objectives.

The hours of work are Monday – Friday 14:00 -22.00

(15% shift allowance payable)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead production activities and manage KPI metrics.
  • Create and execute daily and weekly production schedules reporting any deviations to plan to the manager.
  • Ensure correct procedures are implemented.
  • Monitor output and respond to correct production issues.
  • Monitor and proactively reduce health and safety occurrences.
  • Ensure deliverables are achieved.
  • Implement Standards Operating Procedures (SOP) where possible.
  • Implement and sustain continuous improvement activities.
  • Support other departments collaboratively when there are changes to customer demand.
  • Conduct consistent daily briefings with the team.
  • Implement training and development plans for Coordinators to include regular 1 to 1 performance reviews.
  • Conduct all relevant HR processes such as absence management, return to work and disciplinary actions.
  • Monitor and support coordinators in ensuring training and upskilling of associates is well planned and implemented.
  • Ensure comprehensive and accurate shift handovers are completed.
  • Be frugal in your approach to improving and maintaining operational budgets.
  • Manage agreed overtime budget.

Required Experience/skills/qualifications

  • Minimum of three years within a manufacturing or process driven environment
  • Previous supervisory experience – minimum of 1 year overseeing 10 or more associates.
  • PC Literate-able to use SAP and Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Good communication skills

Desirable

  • Health & Safety qualification e.g. IOSH Managing Safely
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques such as 5s, 6 sigma, SMED, TPM and OEE and how to implement
