Job summary

XPO Logistics in Swindon is seeking a Night Transport Supervisor to co-ordinate on-site transport operations and manage drivers, vehicles and subcontractors to meet customer and company expectations.

You will ensure compliance with working time regulations, plan routes, dispatch drivers, handle paperwork and maintain depot compliance and health and safety standards. This role offers training and development opportunities within a growing logistics network.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating night transport operations and teams.
• Strong communication with multiple stakeholders.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel/Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transport operations on site to meet customer expectations.
• Ensure vehicle and subcontractor utilization minimises costs.
• Ensure drivers comply with working time regulations and incidents are investigated.
• Plan routes, dispatch drivers, and ensure timely handovers and paperwork.
• Maintain depot compliance, motor vehicle servicing and health & safety standards.

• We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £43,750 (inc shift allowance).
• We offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Co-ordinate the transport operations on site and/or on customer premises to meet both customer and company expectations
• Liaise with line management to ensure the effective use of company vehicles/ hire vehicles / subcontractors minimising the cost impact to the business
• Ensure that all drivers are compliant with the working time directive regulations and that any accidents/incidents are investigated in a timely manner
• Responsible for the night time transport operation:
  • Ensure that vehicles are planned properly to route and vehicle fill.
  • Ensure customer collections are planned and completed to time.
  • Ensure night nightwork operations are despatched timely to achieve service level agreements.
  • Dispatch & debrief drivers as per company policy.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed and filed correctly
  • Ensure depot compliance is up to date on Tacho management system, and all infringements are signed off in a timely manner.
  • Investigate and rectify any missing mileage
  • Manage breakdowns and defects in a timely manner
  • Send appropriate, timely and accurate handover information
  • Fleet compliance, including planned MOTs and servicing.
  • Health and Safety management

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

• A good understating of fast-paced transport teams
• Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders
• Good understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook
