Job summary

XPO Logistics manages transport operations from our Swindon site. We are seeking a Transport Supervisor to coordinate day-to-day activities, work with drivers and subcontractors, and ensure service levels and compliance are met.

You will liaison with management to optimise resources, control costs, and maintain accurate paperwork and records while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Understanding of fast-paced transport teams and logistics workflows.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders across levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook for daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the transport operations on site and at customer premises.
• Liaise with line management to optimise use of hire vehicles and subcontractors.
• Ensure drivers comply with Working Time Directive and investigate incidents.
• Plan and dispatch vehicles, debrief drivers, and manage paperwork.
• Maintain depot compliance and tachograph records; address infringements timely.
• Handle breakdowns/defects and arrange timely handovers.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Co-ordinate the transport operations on site and on customer premises to meet both customer and company expectations
• Liaise with line management to ensure the effective use of hire vehicles / subcontractors minimising the cost impact to the business
• Ensure that all drivers are compliant with the working time directive regulations and that any accidents/incidents are investigated in a timely manner
• Responsible for the daytime transport operation:
• Ensure that vehicles are planned properly
• Dispatch & debrief drivers as per company policy
• Ensure all paperwork is completed and filed correctly
• Ensure depot compliance is up to date on Tacho management system, and all infringements are signed off in a timely manner.
• Investigate and rectify any missing mileage
• Manage breakdowns and defects in a timely manner
• Send appropriate and accurate handover
• Fleet Compliance, including MOTs etc
• Health and Safety management

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

• A good understanding of fast-paced transport teams
• Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders
• Good understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook
