Job description

Are you looking to use your transport supervisory or management experience? Do you like the sound of working on a large, complex operation with one of the biggest names in logistics? Are you ready for a challenge?

We’re looking for a Transport Supervisor to join us at our WHSmith – Swindon site. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and effective running of our transport function whilst providing leadership and management to the team to ensure objectives and targets are achieved.

This position is being offered on a permanent basis. You’ll be working on a Monday – Friday, and your hours of work will be 13:00 - 22:00

What you’ll do on a typical day:

1. Managing daily operations issue and resolution for transport operations.
2. Ensure effective communications are developed with and between departments and business streams in order to meet objectives within prescribed timescale.
3. Coordinating and prioritising activity across the shifts and business streams to ensure customer service requirements are met.
4. Cover operations manager role when required.
5. Ensuring reports are checked and consistently 100% accurate when provided by your direct reports and functions.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

1. Previous management experience within a complex, fast-paced transport operation.
2. Excellent knowledge of driving compliance and associated regulations; a Manager’s CPC would be ideal!
3. Organisational skills and strong interpersonal skills with previous managerial experience.
4. A strong personality with the ability to effectively manage drivers, push for operational excellence and challenge the status quo.
