Job description

We are looking for a Transport Supervisor to join our team.

You will work with the Transport Operations Manager to ensure that our transport fleet complies with the latest transport legislation and that our colleagues work in a safe and legally compliant manner.

How will you contribute?

• Promote a safe working environment and encourage compliance with Safe Operating Procedures.
• Support the Transport Operations Manager to ensure logistics compliance with Health and Safety and all transport legislation.
• Demonstrate Wincanton values.
• Provide outstanding service to our customers through accurate, on-time deliveries with excellent communication, where our drivers are seen as ambassadors of Wincanton.
• Support the Transport Operations Manager in maintaining clear communication through team briefings and performance reviews.
• Lead the Logistics Administrator staff, fostering an open, positive, and constructive culture focused on continuous improvement.
• Manage personnel issues such as attendance, welfare, holidays, training, and discipline within your area.
• Plan and implement working patterns to ensure efficient loading operations and vehicle turnaround times.
• Provide cover for the site logistics manager during holidays.
• Ensure fleet maintenance, including MOTs and inspections, is carried out according to schedule.
• Ensure tachograph cards are downloaded as per standards.
• Oversee daily vehicle compliance checks, recording defects and actions taken.
• Assist the Transport Operations Manager in complying with BSI and ISO regulations.
