Overview

Walker & Son (Hauliers) Ltd, a privately owned company specialising in UK and European Haulage, Logistics, Warehousing, Property Development and Management, Crane Hire and Machinery Removals and Installations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Transport Administrator; assisting with the management and administration of the transport desk on a day-to-day basis, providing excellent customer service, scanning of POD's, completing invoicing, bookings, administration and quotations when required.

Learning the transport systems within the company, advising the transport department of all necessary movements within a timely manner, learing to plan transport and completing movement orders for abnormal loads.

Managing the Health & Safety requirements of the company, ensuring all drivers aare compliant, submitting audits, both online and on site. Annually update all relevant company documents, risk assessments and Policies in line with industry requirements, deal with insurance company and external insurance assessor.

Completing new starter inductions and completing PA requirements for the Directors as and when necessary.

Applicant Requirements

In order for you to be successful in this role you will have the following skills:

  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce work which is consistently of a high standard.
  • A good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet applications with ability to learn new software packages used for managing transport and accounts within the company.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads to increase efficiency.
  • Show initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Able to convey clear and concise information to clients and external organisations.
  • Experience of invoicing, and administration would be beneficial.
  • Experienced in Health and Safety.
  • Experience of Transport, Abnormal Loads and notifications would be beneficial.

The position will ideally be filled by someone who is experienced in these key areas and is looking for a new challenge, however all applications will be considered. Training will be given where necessary and the role may develop into a managerial position depending on the candidate.

The salary is negotiable depending on experience and ability, the company also offers retention bonuses and 6% Company Pension Contribution and health insurance.
