Job summary

Greggs is seeking a Transport Operations Manager to lead the KNDC transport function in Kettering. You will manage a team of transport managers, supervisors and drivers to deliver safe, compliant, high-performing operations and implement the transport strategy aligned with business goals.

You will drive continuous improvement, ensure adherence to safety and food safety standards, and balance service levels with costs.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large-scale transport, logistics or distribution operations.
• Strong commercial understanding balancing customer service, operational performance and cost efficiency.
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of transport compliance, Health & Safety and food safety standards.
• Proven expertise in transport planning and route optimisation with analytical focus.
• Coaching and development-focused leadership with stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of transport managers, supervisors and drivers.
• Deliver operational and strategic transport objectives in line with business plans and budgets.
• Take responsibility for transport planning, resource deployment and problem solving.
• Ensure fleet maintenance, servicing and transport compliance requirements are met.
• Manage 24/7 transport operations, including rota planning and resource optimisation.
• Drive a culture of excellence, continuous improvement and colleague engagement.
• Develop, monitor and improve KPIs to support operational performance.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, Health & Safety, food safety and company policies.
• Recruit, coach, develop and support colleagues to reach their potential.
• Lead performance management, PDRs, succession planning and talent development.
• Manage investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes where required.
• Promote a strong safety and food safety culture across the operation.
• Work cross-functionally with operations, national transport and support teams to meet objectives.
• Lead and deliver continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
