Trainee Thermoplastic Fabricator & Welder

THE EMPLOYER IS: DIGESTORS, SILOS & TANKS LTD T/A SILOTANKTo support our increase in business we are looking to recruit GRP Laminators and Thermoplastic Fabricators to work in Belfast, N. Ireland. SILOTANK is a leading composite and thermoplastic fabrication company specialising in the manufacture of chemical tanks. Water tanks, thermoplastic pipework, tank covers, ladders and platforms, and turnkey odour control and chemical scrubbing systems. Tanks are manufactured in cylinder and rectangular formats.We manufacture thermoplastic pump kiosks and cabinets. Our increased business has come from export work and we are looking for candidates who are interested in factory and site work environments. We have roles for thermoplastic fabricators who are skilled in the production of dual laminate tanks, grp tanks and thermoplastic tanks. We have a dedicated shop for the production of straight PP and HDPE tanks up to 60000 Litres. We have a dedicated shop for the production of straight GRP and dual laminate (PP/GRP, uPVC/GRP, cPVC/GRP, PVDF/GRP and ECTFE/GRP) tanks up to 200,000Litres and scrubbers up to 5m dia x 20m tall.

Responsibilities

• Laminate using polyester and vinylester resin system using chopped strand mats, combi mats, woven roven working on the production of tanks, scrubbers, ductwork and pipes.
• Spark test thermoplastic welds for weld porosity.
• Reading and Understanding production drawings in English.
• To be able to read and understand the production drawings and mark out the tank from the drawings to the nozzle holes are in the correct place.
• Welding PP, HDPE, uPVC, cPVC, PVDF, ECTFE.

Skills and Qualifications

• Candidates must be able to speak English and read English.
• Candidates must be able to read 2D and 3D drawings.
• It would be ideal if the candidate would also have skills in the construction of Dual Laminate tanks, ductwork, pipework using isopthalic polyester resin and vinylester resin laminates.
• We are interested to attract candidates with experience and certification in the use of mobile lifting equipment, overhead cranes and forklift licence would be beneficial.
