Job summary

Convey Law in Newport is seeking a Trainee Conveyancer to turn your conveyancing experience into a long-term career. You’ll join the Transactional Teams and help progress residential transactions from instruction to completion.

With structured training, mentorship and real case exposure, you’ll build knowledge, manage client communications and work toward defined service standards while developing autonomy in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Conveyancing experience as Assistant or Paralegal in conveyancing.
• Interest in residential property law and developing conveyancing career.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and client focus.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a busy environment.
• Proactive attitude and readiness to develop.
• Comfort with Microsoft Office and new systems.

Responsibilities

• Support residential property transactions from instruction through to completion.
• Build your technical conveyancing knowledge through structured training and practical experience.
• Communicate with clients, keeping them informed throughout their property journey.
• Prepare correspondence, maintain accurate records and update case management systems.
• Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and solicitors to help keep transactions moving.
• Manage workload effectively and work towards service and performance standards.
• Follow regulatory requirements, lender instructions and internal procedures.
• Learn from experienced colleagues through mentoring, feedback and ongoing development.

At Convey Law, we'll help you build on your existing experience and develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to progress towards managing your own residential conveyancing caseload.

You’ll learn alongside experienced Conveyancers and dedicated support teams, with structured training, hands‑on experience and plenty of opportunities to develop.

As you develop in the role, you will:

• Previous experience as a Conveyancing Assistant or Paralegal, specifically within conveyancing.
• A genuine interest in residential property law and developing your conveyancing career.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Great attention to detail and a client‑focused approach.
• The ability to learn, adapt and work well in a busy environment.
• A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to develop.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems.
