Job summary

Kirklees Council is seeking a Technical Officer to join the Urban Traffic Control team. The role combines technical coordination with administrative duties to support the highway network's safe operation.

Experience with traffic signals is helpful but not essential; training will be provided. The role offers flexible hybrid working and opportunities for professional development within a friendly public service team.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational and IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to present information clearly to different audiences.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance of traffic signals and related assets.
• Assist with street works permit applications and register signal switch-offs.
• Coordinate with Network Management on works affecting UTC assets.
• Assist in recovering costs for damage to traffic management equipment.
• Respond to technical enquiries and collate information.
• Maintain accurate records and promote safe working practices.
• Respond to customer enquiries.
