Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Senior Technical Officer – Community Projects to deliver community schemes that improve parking and congestion across Kirklees. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of electronic systems.

You will work within the Community Projects team to process Traffic Regulation Orders and support highway safety initiatives, coordinating with councillors, the public and external partners.

Qualifications

• Able to lead a small team and guide junior officers in minor traffic schemes.
• Able to prioritise workloads effectively.
• Experience dealing with challenging customers with a strong customer focus.
• Ability to consult with the public, local councillors and MPs to develop solutions.
• Familiarity with Traffic Regulation Orders and where they are used.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team and assist junior officers in designing minor traffic schemes when needed.
• Prioritise workloads to meet project deadlines.
• Address enquiries from the public, councillors and MPs with clear, helpful responses.
• Develop a range of highway safety solutions in response to requests.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in a political environment on traffic projects.
