Job summary

ITS Building People are recruiting a Trade Counter Assistant for a well-established plant and tool hire business in Guildford. You will help run the depot day-to-day, manage hires and returns, support sales activity and provide excellent customer service.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. A background in construction or knowledge of plant and tools is desirable but not essential, with proven experience in hire operations a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in hire operations, trade counter or customer-facing role.
• Background in construction or knowledge of plant and tools desirable.
• Proven experience selling products and services directly to end users.
• Strong planning and time management skills.
• Confident to work independently and use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with day-to-day depot hire operations to ensure an efficient and professional service.
• Managing local hire fleet stock levels and working with internal teams to maximise equipment availability.
• Reviewing and auditing hire contracts to maintain accuracy and quality standards.
• Overseeing new hire contracts and off-hire activity within the depot.
• Handling customer enquiries and supporting the smooth running of trade counter operations.
• Working with the central logistics team to coordinate transport requirements.
• Supporting re-hire allocations and prioritising customer requirements.
• Developing existing and new customer accounts through sales activity.
• Supporting the achievement of sales growth targets across products and services.
• Building strong customer relationships and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
