Job summary

Jewson is recruiting a Tool Hire Manager at our Barnsley branch to lead the tool hire function, deliver excellent service, and drive profitable sales growth.

You will build strong customer relationships, manage stock and safety standards, and work with the Branch Manager to hit branch targets. This full-time role supports cross-selling and upselling while maintaining high standards across the team.

Qualifications

• Experience of leading or managing a team, ideally in tool hire or builders' merchants.
• Strong customer focus with ability to grow relationships and sales opportunities.
• Commercial awareness and ability to drive sales through cross-selling and upselling.
• Good knowledge of tool hire products, equipment and processes, or ability to learn quickly.
• A confident, supportive leadership style with coaching ability.
• Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
• Commitment to Health & Safety and operational compliance.
• A collaborative approach across the wider branch team.
• A proactive attitude with ownership to solve problems and deliver great service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Tool Hire team to provide safe, high-quality service.
• Deliver tool hire targets with a focus on cross-selling and upselling.
• Build strong customer relationships and identify growth opportunities.
• Coach, support and develop colleagues to reach their potential.
• Manage tool hire stock, inventory and availability to meet demand.
• Ensure Health & Safety standards and processes are followed.
• Support deliveries and collections, ensuring equipment is handled safely.
• Resolve customer queries and complaints with ownership of outcomes.
• Collaborate with Branch Manager and wider team to deliver excellent customer experience.
• Lead regular team communications and promote a positive, customer-focused culture.
