Job summary

Jewson Barnsley is recruiting a Tool Hire Manager to lead the Tool Hire function at our Barnsley branch, delivering excellent customer service, safe operations and profitable sales growth. You will build relationships, drive cross-selling and upselling, and work with the Branch Manager to meet targets.

You will coach and develop colleagues, manage stock and processes, and ensure Health & Safety standards are followed in a busy branch environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team in tool hire or similar.
• Strong customer focus with ability to build relationships.
• Commercial awareness with sales growth through cross-selling.
• Knowledge of tool hire products and processes.
• Confident leadership style with coaching ability.
• Good organisational skills to manage priorities.
• Commitment to Health & Safety and compliance.
• Collaborative approach across a branch team.
• Proactive attitude with ownership and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Tool Hire team for safe, high-quality service.
• Deliver tool hire targets with cross-selling and upselling focus.
• Build strong customer relationships; identify growth opportunities in tool hire sales.
• Coach and develop colleagues with regular feedback to grow the team.
• Manage stock, inventory and availability to meet demand.
• Maintain tool hire standards, processes and Health & Safety requirements.
• Support deliveries/collections, ensuring safe handling and secure equipment.
• Resolve queries and complaints, taking ownership for positive outcomes.
• Collaborate with Branch Manager and team to deliver excellent customer experience.
• Lead regular team communications for a positive, collaborative customer-focused culture.
