Job summary

Jewson Barnsley is seeking a Tool Hire Manager to lead the Tool Hire function, delivering safe operations and profitable sales growth. You will build strong customer relationships, drive cross-selling, and maintain stock and equipment to meet demand.

As part of the Barnsley team, you’ll coach colleagues, deliver excellent service, and work closely with the Branch Manager to hit branch targets while upholding health, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or managing a team in tool hire, equipment hire, builders’ merchants, or similar.
• Strong customer focus with ability to build relationships and identify sales opportunities.
• Knowledge of tool hire products, equipment, and processes; ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Tool Hire team for efficient, safe, high-quality service.
• Achieve tool hire targets with a focus on cross-selling and upselling.
• Build customer relationships and identify opportunities to grow tool hire sales.
• Coach and develop colleagues, providing feedback to help the team excel.
• Manage tool hire stock, inventory and availability to meet demand.
• Ensure Health & Safety standards and related processes are followed.
• Support deliveries and collections, ensuring safe handling of equipment.
• Work with Branch Manager and team to deliver excellent customer experience.
• Lead regular team communications and promote a positive, customer-focused culture.
