Job summary

IBC Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for an adult with learning disabilities in Chestrfield (S42 area). The role focuses on therapeutic, person-centred care, building routine, confidence and genuine independence in home and community settings.

Applicants should be capable of delivering PBS-based support, maintaining dignity, and working with families and healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or autism.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed care.
• Strong de-escalation and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and dignity in care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to the individual's needs and goals.
• Promote independence and meaningful choice in daily living.
• Assist with personal care while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Support medication administration in line with policy.
• Assist with daily living tasks like cooking, cleaning, budgeting and appointments to build skills.
• Encourage community access and social inclusion aligned with the person’s interests.
• Follow the support plan, risk assessment and PBS plan consistently.
• Recognise distress early and respond with de-escalation to minimise restrictive practice.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and records; collaborate with family and healthcare professionals.
