Job summary

IBC Healthcare in Selby is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide one-to-one support to an adult with learning disabilities. You will follow an individualized plan and PBS framework to promote routine, independence and wellbeing in daily home and community life.

The role emphasizes dignity, consistent boundaries and trauma-informed care, with opportunities for paid induction, training and progression. Pay is £13 per hour with days and nights available for full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or behaviours of concern.
• Understanding of PBS and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong de-escalation, communication, and observational skills.
• Calm, patient, non-reactive approach under pressure.
• Consistency and strong professional boundaries.
• Experience with personal care when required.
• Belief in the person’s right to independence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to individual needs.
• Promote independence and meaningful choice in daily life.
• Support personal care with dignity.
• Assist with medication administration per policy.
• Help with daily living tasks and budgeting.
• Encourage community access and social inclusion.
• Follow support plans and risk assessments.
• Document accurately; collaborate with family and healthcare teams.
