Job summary

IBC Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Female Support Worker to provide one-to-one support to an adult with learning disabilities in Mansfield. You will build routines, promote independence, and help the person access their local community with a trauma-informed, PBS-based approach.

The role focuses on dignity, choice and long-term wellbeing, requiring patience, consistency and strong boundaries. Training and development are provided, including PBS and health/social care diplomas.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or behaviours of concern.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong de-escalation, communication and observational skills.
• Calm, patient, non-reactive approach and able to stay steady under pressure.
• Consistency and strong professional boundaries; this role benefits from predictability.
• Experience with personal care where required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to the individual's needs, preferences and goals.
• Promote independence and meaningful choice in all aspects of daily life.
• Support with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect.
• Support medication administration in line with policy.
• Assist with daily living tasks, meals, budgeting, appointments to build skills and confidence.
• Encourage community access and social inclusion aligned with the person’s interests.
• Follow the support plan, risk assessment and PBS plan consistently.
• Recognise distress signs and respond with de-escalation to minimise restrictive practices.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and records.
• Collaborate with family, healthcare professionals and the MDT.
