Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Chelmsford is hiring a Patient Access Officer (Band 4) to join the central booking office at Broomfield Hospital. You will support theatre scheduling across multiple specialties and cover annual leave and sickness.

The role requires good IT skills, experience in NHS or healthcare settings, and the ability to work accurately within waiting-list targets and with Lorenzo and Theatreman systems. Training is provided and the role is on-site.

Qualifications

• Good general education in English and maths.
• Experience in NHS or private sector advantageous.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced patient access environment with good IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive patient monitoring and waiting list service within prescribed timescales.
• Monitor patient pathways from referral to treatment for all specialties under the Trust’s policy and NHS targets (RTT 18 weeks; 31/62 day cancer targets).
• Ensure efficient use of theatres and accurate data entry on Lorenzo and Theatreman systems.
• Communicate effectively with Consultants, clinical teams, patients, relatives and GPs.
