Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive Patient Access Officer to join the central booking office at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. You will support the service by booking theatre lists and covering annual leave and sickness, ensuring timely patient pathways.

The role requires experience in fast-paced patient waiting lists, excellent organisation, confident telephone manner, and good IT skills. Training will be provided, prior NHS or healthcare exposure is desirable.

Qualifications

• Good general education in English and maths.
• Previous experience in NHS or private sector desirable.
• Working knowledge of Lorenzo system.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive professional patient monitoring and waiting list service within prescribed timescales.
• Monitor pathway from referral to treatment for all specialties in line with RTT 18 weeks and cancer targets.
• Ensure efficient use of theatres.
• Enter and update patient details on Lorenzo and Theatreman accurately.
• Communicate effectively with Consultants, clinical teams, patients, relatives and GPs.
