Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a School Crossing Patrol Officer for Moulsham Infant and Moulsham Junior Schools in Chelmsford. The role is part-time, term-time with a 7.5-hour weekly commitment, covering morning and afternoon crossings with uniform, equipment and training provided.

The position requires punctuality, reliability and a friendly approach to the public. Visa sponsorship is not available and applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Punctual and reliable individual required.
• Able to engage with the public and children.
• Must have current, unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support schools twice daily, 45 minutes in the morning and afternoon.
• Assist pedestrians and ensure crossing safety.
• Maintain contact with schools and report problems to supervisor.
• Ensure uniforms/equipment are maintained and replacements requested when needed.
• Give clear signals to drivers and ensure road is clear of pedestrians.
• Assist in preparing reports on incidents at the crossing site.
