Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a School Crossing Patrol Officer at Silver End Primary School, Witham. The role covers 7 hours 30 minutes per week during school terms, with two daily shifts: 8:10–8:55 in the morning and 14:40–15:25 in the afternoon, Monday to Friday, across 39 academic weeks.

Uniform, equipment and training are provided, and visa sponsorship is not available. Right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Must be punctual and reliable.
• Able to engage with the public, including school pupils and parents.
• Applicants must have current, unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe crossing for pedestrians at school gates.
• Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
• Regularly assess crossing site risks and report problems to the supervisor.
• Assist in preparing reports on accidents and stop incidents at the crossing site.
• Ensure that uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition.
• Give clear signals to drivers to stop traffic and keep the road clear when pedestrians cross.
