Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a School Crossing Patrol Officer for Cathedral C of E VA Primary School in Chelmsford. The role supports children twice daily during term time, totaling about 6.25 hours per week with 15-minute to 25-minute windows in mornings and afternoons.

Uniform, equipment and training are provided. The position requires punctuality and reliability, with a focus on public engagement and safety.

Qualifications

• Punctual and reliable individual.
• Able to engage with the public.
• Available during term time: 39 weeks, mornings and afternoons as specified.

Responsibilities

• Have regard for the needs of people with disabilities wishing to use the crossing.
• Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
• Regularly assess risks and report problems to supervisor.
• Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents or incidents at the crossing site.
• Ensure uniform and equipment are maintained and replacements requested when needed.
• Give clear signals to drivers and ensure pedestrians are safe crossing.
