Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a School Crossing Patrol Officer for Moulsham Infant and Moulsham Junior Schools, Gloucester Avenue, Chelmsford. The role is permanent, term-time, 7.5 hours per week with two crossing shifts daily (08:20–09:05 and 15:00–15:45) and a pay rate of £13.46 per hour.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; uniform, equipment and training are provided. This is a community-facing post requiring punctuality, reliability and an approachable manner.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support schools in the morning and afternoon to ensure pedestrian safety.
• Maintain regular contact with schools attended by children using the crossing.
• Regularly assess risks at the crossing site and report problems.
• Assist in preparing reports on accidents and incidents at the crossing site.
• Ensure uniform and equipment are kept in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
• Give clear signals to drivers to stop traffic and keep the road clear for pedestrians.
