Job description

Spectrum Geosurvey specialise in coastal geophysical surveys, supporting a wide range of clients in the offshore renewables sector. We have a proven track record delivering the highest-quality hydrographic and geophysical survey data. Spectrum Geosurvey are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our growing team based in our Lymington office.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Tender Manager who can combine practical survey knowledge with strong writing, coordination and commercial judgement.

This role will lead high-quality tenders from opportunity review through to contract handover. It is suited to someone with around three years of marine geophysical survey experience who understands how field operations are planned and can turn that knowledge into credible, competitive proposals.

The Role & What you will do

You will own the day-to-day tender process and bring together commercial, technical, operational, project and QHSE inputs. You will ensure methodologies, resources, schedules, assumptions and pricing inputs are aligned, deliverable and responsive to the client’s requirements, then provide a clear handover following award.

  • Lead tenders, pre-qualification questionnaires and requests for information through review, approval and submission.
  • Analyse invitations to tender, scopes of work and contract documents to identify deliverables, compliance requirements, risks and clarification points.
  • Prepare tender plans, compliance matrices, responsibility schedules and review programmes.
  • Develop technical methodologies, execution plans, vessel and equipment selections, personnel plans and programmes.
  • Coordinate estimates and pricing inputs so that the offer reflects the proposed delivery model.
  • Develop clear assumptions, qualifications, exclusions and commercial reservations for internal approval.
  • Challenge inputs constructively to confirm that the proposed solution is safe, practical and achievable.
  • Manage internal reviews and approvals, incorporate comments and maintain accurate version control.
  • Coordinate client clarifications, interviews and presentations.
  • Provide a post-award handover covering scope, commitments, risks, assumptions and outstanding actions.
  • Maintain tender records and templates, improve proposal processes and guide Proposal Coordinators.
What we are looking for
  • Around three years of experience in marine geophysical surveying, ideally within offshore renewables or a closely related sector.
  • Practical understanding of the survey lifecycle and common systems, including multibeam echo sounder, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer and marine positioning.
  • The ability to write clear technical and commercial proposal content for both specialist and non-specialist readers.
  • Strong organisation, with experience coordinating several contributors against fixed deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify delivery risks, dependencies and scope gaps.
  • Confident communication with internal teams, suppliers and clients.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience, and a full valid UK driving licence.
Useful additional experience
  • Experience as a surveyor, geophysicist, party chief, project engineer or project manager.
  • Survey mobilisation, calibration and equipment integration experience.
  • Knowledge of software such as QINSy, Teledyne PDS, CARIS HIPS and SIPS, QGIS or ArcGIS.
  • Experience preparing programmes, resource plans, risk registers or estimates, and supporting client clarifications or contract handovers.
How you will work

You will take ownership, communicate openly and work constructively across disciplines. Accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism are essential, together with a practical focus on safe and deliverable survey solutions. You should be comfortable sharing knowledge and using feedback to improve future submissions.

Core attributes and conduct
