Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Tenancy Relations Officer to support the Private Housing Standards Service, advising tenants and landlords on their rights and responsibilities in the private rented sector. You will handle complaints, provide specialist advice, and contribute to enforcement where needed.

The role focuses on promoting good tenancy relations, preventing harassment and illegal eviction, and supporting the preparation of evidence for legal proceedings in line with council

Qualifications

• Knowledge of housing and tenancy law in practice.
• Experience of partnership working with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage conflict and handle complaints both informally and formally.

Responsibilities

• Investigating complaints and providing specialist advice, advocacy, and casework support to tenants.
• Liaising with landlords and letting agents and taking enforcement action where necessary.
• Provide legislative and regulatory advice and training to landlords, tenants, and officers.
