A leading healthcare organization in the United Kingdom is seeking a Psychological Wellbeing Tele-coach to provide support for individuals in mental health crises. This role involves conducting clinical risk assessments, delivering telephone-based psychological interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should have relevant qualifications and skills in crisis intervention. This full-time position offers opportunities for development in a supportive environment.
A Vacancy at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. I’m Stephen, a Tele‑coach in the First Response Service. Our team is based in Huntingdon, offering support across the county to people of all ages. I joined a couple of years ago and have seen tremendous development and growth in our mental health practice. The role is to support people in their most difficult moments and help them find ways to manage and move forward. Our strong team focus, knowledge sharing, and internal development opportunities are sustained by colleagues who specialise in differing age groups and disorders. As the front door into NHS mental health services, there is a unique variety and impact, and I have loved being part of a pioneering, award‑winning team.
We provide a 24/7 service by working in shifts: 08:00‑20:00, 11:00‑23:00, 20:00‑08:00. Each shift is overseen by a Clinical Lead, and you will need to work without direct supervision.
As a Psychological Wellbeing Tele‑coach, you provide support to people of all ages who are identified as being in a mental health crisis. You perform brief clinical risk assessments, formulation, and brief psychological interventions. You become an expert in validation, de‑escalating crisis, and coaching distress tolerance and emotional regulation strategies. A key aspect is undertaking clinical risk assessments in line with the latest empirical evidence and local policies and procedures, seeking support from senior colleagues when necessary.
While the role is predominantly phone work, there is an opportunity to support first responders in community face‑to‑face assessments and work as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with other community agencies, emergency services, and mental health services.
Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is a health & social care organisation dedicated to high‑quality, compassionate care, improving health & wellbeing and empowering people to lead a fulfilling life. Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services—Children, Adult & Older Peoples mental & physical health, Forensic & Specialist mental health, Learning Disabilities, Primary Care & Liaison psychiatry, Substance misuse, Social care, and Research & Development—across inpatient, primary care, and community settings.
We seek high‑calibre candidates sharing our vision & values. As an equal‑opportunity employer, we encourage applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from under‑represented groups including disabled people, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ+ communities.
