Job summary

Bupa in the United Kingdom is seeking a Technical Lead to steer the Health Services Technology team. You will provide clear technical leadership across clinical and operational systems, translate healthcare needs into safe, reliable solutions, and work with Product Managers, clinicians and technology colleagues to improve outcomes and continuity of care.

The role combines hands-on leadership with architectural direction, governance and collaboration in a matrix environment.

Qualifications

• Comfortable working with clinical stakeholders and governance.
• Healthcare interoperability and integration engineering, including interface specifications, mapping, test evidence and monitoring for HL7 v2, FHIR, DICOM, ICD9/10 and SNOMED CT where applicable.
• Product and Agile operating methods; experience leading delivery in healthcare environments where service continuity and governance are essential.
• Communicates clearly and pragmatically, tailoring messages to audience and context across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• People leadership experience: building capability, setting standards, and leading mixed teams in regulated environments.
• Experience leading within matrix environments with blended teams.
• Provides clear technical direction within the product team, making and owning architectural and design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear technical leadership across clinical and operational systems.
• Build and lead a team of engineers and technical specialists.
• Translate clinical and operational needs into actionable delivery plans.
• Enable evidence-based decisions by articulating patient safety, clinical risk, information governance, security and operational impacts.
• Lead delivery and ongoing optimisation of clinically critical platforms and workflows (e.g., PAS, EMR).
• Own end-to-end interoperability and integration delivery, including HL7 v2, FHIR, DICOM where applicable.
