Job summary

Gryd Energy seeks a principal engineer to design and build the core platform from scratch. You will develop multi-objective optimisation and control algorithms to coordinate solar-battery clusters as a grid-aware network.

Qualifications

• Proven Python engineering skills with production-grade systems.
• Experience in optimisation, control, or energy management software.
• Familiarity with distributed energy resources like solar PV or batteries.
• Ability to design robust systems with incomplete or delayed data.
• Experience integrating with APIs and hardware/cloud platforms.
• Ability to lead a technical workstream from research to live deployment.
• Strong documentation and code quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Define system objectives and constraints for multi-home solar-battery operation.
• Design and build multi-objective optimisation algorithms (cost, health, value, peak management).
• Develop control logic for dispatch intervals with safety constraints and fail-safety.
• Validate designs with simulations before live deployment.
• Integrate optimisation with inverter and battery management via cloud APIs.
• Lead commissioning across clusters of live homes and support performance evaluation.
