Job summary
Macphie Ltd in Glenbervie, Aberdeenshire, is seeking a Technical Baker to join our Food Applications team. You will become our bakery subject matter expert, shaping new products and solving challenges with practical and technical bakery knowledge.
Based in Aberdeenshire, relocation support may be discussed for the right candidate. You’ll work closely with Product Design, Food Applications and Commercial teams on trials, formulations and customer projects.
Qualifications
- Extensive practical bakery experience within commercial, development or craft bakery environments.
- Strong knowledge of bakery ingredients, formulations and manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting bakery product development, trials or technical bakery projects.
- Broad knowledge across cakes, bread, sweet bakery and other baked goods.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical bakery expert across Macphie, sharing knowledge with teams.
- Carry out practical bakery trials to validate new products and formulations.
- Advise on ingredients functionality and formulation impacts.
- Test products to ensure quality, consistency and performance.
- Troubleshoot bakery formulations and manufacturing challenges.
- Assess product functionality, quality and shelf life.
- Support development of innovative bakery solutions based on customer needs.
- Provide specialist bakery expertise during customer projects and meetings.
- Maintain day-to-day management of the Development Bakery to Macphie standards.
- Keep up to date with new ingredients and bakery technologies.
