Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a part-time Team Manager to lead a team of Scheme Housing Officers and deliver a high-quality intensive housing management service to meet residents' needs and support strategic objectives.

The role is based at our Fleet office with hybrid working, and involves managing tenancy processes, budget oversight, and collaboration with external partners to help residents live independently within active communities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with older people and/or within supported housing or housing-related support services with a focus to ensure residents remain as independent for as long as possible
• Demonstrable experience driving performance and delivering results with capability to manage KPIs across a portfolio of schemes
• Demonstrable staff management skills including supervision, development and performance monitoring
• Strong knowledge of Independent Living services, relevant legislation and good practice within the sector
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes

• Oversee spend in schemes on utilities and other costs, set budgets, manage purchase orders and invoices, and address overspends or anomalies

Job description

As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of Scheme Housing Officers to deliver a high-quality intensive housing management service ensuring customers’ needs are met and strategic objectives and team plans are successfully delivered.

As a Team Manager, you’ll ensure schemes and services are safe and well‑managed, coordinating the work of other teams and liaising with external stakeholders to ensure residents are supported to live independently within active communities.

Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support a ‘place custodian’ model of service delivery with clear leadership and management in a defined cluster of Sheltered, Extra Care and/or Over-55s schemes.
• Be visible and accountable and embed an environment where your team are empowered and supported to deliver a great service to residents. Lead by example, embracing Southern Housing culture, current and future legislation, policy, procedure and best practice
• Ensure efficient ‘on the spot’ tenancy management including letting empty homes, income maximisation and arrears management, resolving anti‑social behaviour and monitoring environmental, maintenance and other services to schemes.
• Ensure residents needs and safety are monitored, and they’re supported to access a full range of services and support.
• Oversee spend in your schemes on utilities and other scheme costs with the aim of securing value for money for residents. Assist in setting budgets. Take responsibility for purchase orders and invoices, and ensure potential overspends or anomalies are addressed.

This is a part‑time position, working 28 hours per week across 4 or 5 days, with flexibility around working patterns. The successful candidate will be based at our Farringdon office (Fleet House) and will work on a hybrid basis, with an expectation of attending the office approximately one day per week.

What you’ll need:

• Experience of working with older people and/or within supported housing or housing‑related support services with a focus to ensure our residents remain as independent for as long as possible
• Demonstrable experience of driving performance and delivering results, with the capability to manage KPIs across a portfolio of schemes—ensuring consistent, high‑quality service delivery.
• Demonstrable staff management skills, covering all aspects of line management, including supervision, development, and performance monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of Independent Living services, relevant legislation, and recognised good practice within the sector.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. A lone‑working device will be provided.
