Job summary

LRL is recruiting Team Leaders/Deputy Managers to oversee high-acuity care teams in Yorkshire. You will lead shifts, supervise staff and ensure safe, consistent care plans and PBS strategies for individuals with complex behaviours.

You will coordinate risk assessments, DoLS compliance and incident management while maintaining a focus on safeguarding, dignity and least restrictive practice.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in complex care, learning disability, autism, ABI, mental health or high‑risk behavioural services.
• Experience leading 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 staffing packages.
• Experience managing behaviours that challenge and physical aggression.
• Advanced practical de-escalation and crisis prevention experience.
• Experience with PBS plans and complex risk assessments.
• Knowledge of DoLS and safeguarding best practices.
• Strong incident reporting and escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff during shifts and allocate within enhanced staffing arrangements.
• Oversee risk and ensure staffing matches individuals' presentation.
• Ensure staff understand triggers, early warning signs, preventative strategies.
• Lead responses during significant behavioural incidents.
• Keep de-escalation as primary response; restrict use of physical interventions.
• Ensure only trained staff participate in physical interventions.
• Coordinate responses to aggression, absconding or high-risk behaviour.
• Escalate emergencies when risks cannot be managed by the team.
• Conduct shift briefings and handovers.
• Review records and incident reports for accuracy.
• Ensure incidents are escalated and review post‑incident learning.
• Monitor practice and address unsafe care; support supervision and performance.
• Identify training needs and support PBS implementation.
• Coordinate liaison with Deputy Manager, clinical team and external professionals.
• Promote safeguarding, dignity and least restrictive practice.
