Job summary

Old Moat in Manchester is seeking two full-time, permanent Teaching Assistants to provide essential support for students' learning, wellbeing and inclusion. You will undertake targeted interventions, monitor progress and assist with safeguarding, behaviour support and classroom tasks.

The successful candidates will have NVQ Level 2 TA or equivalent, strong numeracy and literacy, and excellent communication with students, parents and staff. Start date 5 October 2026.

Qualifications

  • Experience and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, or willingness to undertake training.
  • Numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to RQF Level 2.
  • Qualified to NVQ L2 TA or equivalent qualifications or experience, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support to students’ learning, wellbeing and inclusion, especially those with SEND.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and monitor student progress.

Salary: £22,149 per annum

About the Candidate
  • Experience and understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues, or be willing to undertake training in these areas;
  • Numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to RQF Level 2
  • Qualified to NVQ L2 TA or equivalent qualifications or experience; or willingness to obtain one;
  • Ideally have the following relevant knowledge and/or experience:
  • Significant classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role;
  • Experience of working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs;
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and their parent(s)/carer(s);
  • Experience and knowledge of working with and contributing to the assessment, planning, production and review process of EHCPs;
  • High level administrative skills and an excellent eye for detail;
  • Willingness to drive mini bus and access to own transport;
  • Be professional, flexible and innovative, with experience of undertaking a wide variety of duties and an ability to deal skillfully with unanticipated situations;
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well within a team, yet able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised utilising their own initiative;Well organised with an adaptable and positive approach to all aspects of the workload;
  • Supportive of the school's excellent staff attendance and punctuality record, which in turn supports student attainment.
  • Training will be provided on safeguarding and school specific IT applications.
