Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN primary school in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. You will support children aged 3-11 with autism, ADHD and related needs, delivering tailored activities under a class teacher’s guidance.

Role involves 1:1 or small group work, promoting confidence, communication and positive behaviour, including on the playground. Start date is Sept 2026; term-time hours apply.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or mentoring children in school, youth work, sports coaching or volunteering.
  • Patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent).
  • Calm under pressure with a positive outlook.
  • Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Teaching Assistant


Area: Rochdale, Greater Manchester


Start Date: Monday 14th September 2026


Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only


Salary: £525 - £700 per week (depending on experience)


Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

About the Role:


  • Support pupils in the classroom, working 1:1 or with small groups

To be eligible you must:


  • Hold Right to Work in the UK

  • Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service

  • Provide two professional child-related references
