Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join one of our specialist schools in the North West. You will work closely with teachers to deliver tailored support, helping pupils access the curriculum and build confidence in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

You will support pupils 1:1 or in small groups, assist with additional needs, promote positive behaviour and confidence, and serve as a reliable adult role model across lessons and playtime.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting or mentoring children or young people.
• Patient and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
• GCSE Maths & English or equivalent.
• Calm under pressure with a positive outlook and sense of humour.
• Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Area: Oldham, Greater Manchester
Start Date: Monday 5th October 2026 or ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only (Permanent)
Salary: 525 - 700 per week (depending on experience)
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

• Patient, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils
• Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent)
• Calm under pressure with a positive outlook and sense of humour
• Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed

To be eligible you must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
• Provide two professional child-related references
