Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND within a specialist secondary provision in Rochdale, partnered with a mainstream academy. The role runs Wednesday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, and involves helping students access the formal curriculum and GCSE/entry-level qualifications.

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

Salary: £525-£700 per week (Dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working Hours: Wednesday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

The role focuses on supporting access to a formal curriculum, including GCSE and entry‑level accreditation, within smaller, specialist‑led classes.

• Support access to GCSE and entry‑level curriculum content alongside mainstream peers
• Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
• Support students' social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs

What we're looking for:

• SEND experience, ideally within a setting integrating students with mainstream peers
• Confidence supporting GCSE or entry‑level curriculum delivery
• A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to SEMH needs
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
• Provide two professional references (child‑related preferred)
