Job summary

TeacherActive in Wirral is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in a UK secondary school setting. This role offers flexible day-to-day arrangements with potential long-term opportunities for the right candidate.

You will help with behaviour management, deliver targeted academic and pastoral support, and work closely with teachers to keep learners engaged across Key Stages 3 and 4. Experience with challenging behaviour or SEND is desirable.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months' experience in a UK secondary school.
• Experience supporting students aged 11–16.
• Experience with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 alongside class teachers.
• Promote positive behaviour and keep pupils engaged in learning.

Salary: £90 - £110 per day

These schools are committed to providing inclusive learning environments where every young person is encouraged to succeed through strong pastoral care, high expectations, and engaging classroom experiences.

The schools are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a flexible day-to-day basis, with long-term opportunities available for the right Teaching Assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, working alongside classroom teachers to promote positive behaviour, keep pupils engaged in learning, and deliver targeted academic, behavioural and pastoral support. Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND would be highly beneficial.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• At least 6 months' experience working within a UK secondary school setting


• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting young people aged 11 to 16


• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND is highly desirable


• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills


• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff


• A calm, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people
