Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for Wirral-based secondary schools. You will work on flexible day-to-day bookings, with potential long-term roles for the right candidate, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and 4 and helping maintain positive behaviour in class.

The ideal applicant has at least 6 months' experience in UK secondary schools, strong communication, resilience, and a calm, proactive approach to supporting learners. PAYE payroll and ongoing CPD are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in UK secondary school setting (minimum 6 months)
• Experience supporting students aged 11–16
• Experience managing challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND is desirable
• Strong communication and relationship-building with students and staff

Responsibilities

• Support students across Key Stage 3 and 4
• Promote positive behaviour and keep pupils engaged
• Deliver targeted academic, behavioural and pastoral support
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support learning

Salary: £90 - £110 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a number of welcoming secondary schools across the Wirral area, recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to support their students. These schools are committed to providing inclusive learning environments where every young person is encouraged to succeed through strong pastoral care, high expectations, and engaging classroom experiences.

The schools are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a flexible day-to-day basis, with long-term opportunities available for the right Teaching Assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, working alongside classroom teachers to promote positive behaviour, keep pupils engaged in learning, and deliver targeted academic, behavioural and pastoral support. Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND would be highly beneficial.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• At least 6 months' experience working within a UK secondary school setting
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting young people aged 11 to 16
• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND is highly desirable
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• A calm, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people
