Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support secondary students in Widnes on a flexible day-to-day basis, with long-term opportunities for the right candidate. You will work with teachers to promote positive behaviour, keep pupils engaged, and deliver targeted academic, behavioural, and pastoral support across KS3 and KS4.

The ideal candidate will have experience in UK secondary schools, the ability to manage challenging behaviour, and a calm, proactive approach.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months' experience working within a UK secondary school setting.
• Previous experience supporting young people aged 11 to 16 in a teaching assistant role.
• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND is highly desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• A calm, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people.

Responsibilities

• Support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, working alongside classroom teachers to promote positive behaviour.
• Keep pupils engaged in learning and deliver targeted academic, behavioural and pastoral support.

Salary: £90 - £110 per day

These schools are committed to providing inclusive learning environments where every young person is encouraged to succeed through strong pastoral care, high expectations, and engaging classroom experiences.

The schools are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a flexible day-to-day basis, with long-term opportunities available for the right Teaching Assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, working alongside classroom teachers to promote positive behaviour, keep pupils engaged in learning, and deliver targeted academic, behavioural and pastoral support. Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND would be highly beneficial.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:
