Job summary

Southmead Primary School in London is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 2. The post is fixed term from 7 September 2026 to 31 August 2027, 28.75 hours per week across 38 weeks (term time only) 8:30–3:15, with hourly rate £13.47–£13.69.

Candidates should have Level 2 TA qualification or equivalent, experience with children and delivering 1:1 or small group interventions, and GCSE English/Maths at grade C or above.

Qualifications

Hourly rate £13.47 - £13.69 (FTE £25,989 - £26,403) pay award pending.

The Headteacher and Governors are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to support pupils with their learning in our Key Stage 2 classes. We are looking for a motivated team player ideally with experience of working with children with a range of needs both individually and in small groups. A positive and encouraging attitude is essential, as is kindness, patience and an ability to use your initiative. The role will include some small group interventions and may include some class cover for suitably qualified candidates. We are looking for applicants who are dedicated to making a difference to children’s lives and to ensure every child has the opportunities they deserve.

• A Teaching and Learning Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Although we would welcome HLTA’s or teachers who want to remain / stay in education.

• Experience of setting clear and consistent boundaries
• A positive and encouraging attitude

• GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths
