Job summary

Protocol Education is working with a welcoming primary school in the BS16 area to recruit a compassionate and resilient 1:1 SEN Support Assistant for an ASAP start.

You will provide dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning and build confidence while working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to plan tailored strategies.

Qualifications

  • Passport / proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Two proofs of address (e.g., driving licence, utility bill, council tax bill or P45/P60).
  • CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with gaps explained.
  • Two years of references, including childcare/education or support work references where applicable.
  • Overseas Police Check if you've lived abroad for three months or more in the last five years.

Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day
  • Supporting the pupil's learning, emotional wellbeing and social development
  • Implementing personalised support strategies and interventions
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in classroom activities
  • Helping to build confidence, independence and resilience

  • Working closely with teaching staff, the SENCO and parents where appropriate
  • Recording progress and contributing to pupil support plans

Protocol Education is working with a welcoming primary school in the BS16 area to recruit a compassionate and resilient 1:1 SEN Support Assistant for an ASAP start.

This rewarding role involves supporting one pupil with additional needs on a one-to-one basis, helping them access learning, build confidence and navigate the school day successfully. You'll become a trusted adult figure, working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to provide tailored support that enables the pupil to thrive both academically and emotionally.

We're looking for someone who understands that every child is different and can adapt their approach to meet individual needs. Whether you're supporting emotional regulation, encouraging engagement in lessons or celebrating small achievements, your role will make a lasting impact.

Pay:

£14.30 - £15.00 per hour

A Bit About You:
  • Experience working with children, young people or individuals with additional needs
  • Calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Confident building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Understanding of SEND and the importance of personalised support
  • Comfortable working independently in a dedicated one-to-one role
  • Resilient, reliable and adaptable
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
