Job summary

Building Recruitment Co Ltd in Exeter is seeking a Supported Housing Worker to help people who have experienced homelessness move towards independent living, through a person-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed approach that focuses on practical skills, confidence and stability.

You will manage referrals, carry out needs and risk assessments, develop and deliver individual support plans, assist clients with budgeting, benefits, rent and finances, ensure rights and tenancy obligations

Qualifications

• This role requires experience with complex needs and safeguarding.
• Experience in health, social care, housing or similar settings.
• Understanding homelessness and social exclusion.
• Experience with client assessments and support planning.

Responsibilities

• Manage referrals and complete needs and risk assessments.

• Maintain accurate records using the electronic case management system.
• Support clients to move on into independent accommodation.
• Maintain health, safety and security across the accommodation.
• Manage rent arrears, voids and housing-related issues.
• Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota and team meetings.

SALARY: £26,200 per year

Are you passionate about supporting people to build brighter, more independent futures?

We’re looking for a Supported Housing Worker to join our team in Exeter, supporting people who have experienced homelessness and are ready to take the next step towards independent living.

You’ll work with people who may have experienced trauma, mental ill-health, substance misuse, domestic abuse and other complex challenges. Using a person-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, you’ll help individuals develop the skills, confidence and stability they need to successfully move on to their own tenancy.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll build trusted relationships with clients, work closely with partner agencies and support people to make meaningful progress in their lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Help maintain high standards of health, safety and security across the accommodation.
• Manage rent arrears, voids and housing-related issues in line with policies and procedures.
• Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.Contribute to team meetings, supervision and reflective practice.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient and genuinely committed to helping people achieve positive change.

You’ll ideally have experience working with people experiencing homelessness, social exclusion or other complex needs, including challenging behaviours.

Essential:

• Experience working with people with complex needs.
• Experience working in a health, social care, housing or similar setting.
• An understanding of homelessness and social exclusion.
• Experience of client assessments and support planning.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes.
• Business insurance for work-related travel.

Desirable:

• A health or social care qualification at degree level or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the benefits system, including Universal Credit.
• Experience supporting people who sleep rough.
• Personal experience of homelessness or social exclusion.
