Job summary

Stepping Stone Projects in Preston is seeking a motivated Supported Housing Worker to help young people aged 16–25 achieve independence, through housing management and person-centred support in OFSTED-regulated accommodation.

You will build trusting relationships, support education, training and employment goals, coordinate with local authorities and partner agencies, and promote a safe, inclusive living environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries.
• Experience supporting individuals who may have faced trauma, adversity or instability.
• Strong partnership-working and advocacy skills.
• Resilience, perseverance and a solution-focused approach.
• NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or working towards).
• Full UK driving licence with daily access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Building trusting, professional relationships with young people while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Supporting young people to achieve goals through tailored support plans and regular key work sessions.
• Completing needs, risk and support assessments.
• Helping young people access education, employment, training, healthcare and community services.
• Advocating on behalf of young people and coordinating support with external agencies.
• Supporting residents to develop independent living skills, including budgeting, tenancy management and maintaining a home.
• Managing tenancy-related matters, including rent accounts, property inspections and occupancy standards.
• Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents and emergencies.
• Maintaining accurate records, case notes and reports.
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive living environment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient Supported Housing Worker to join our OFSTED-regulated Supported Accommodation service in Preston. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people aged 16 to 25, including Care Leavers and Asylum Seekers, as they develop the confidence, skills and resilience needed to build successful independent lives.

As a Supported Housing Worker, you will provide a combination of housing management and person-centred support, helping young people maintain safe accommodation, access education, training and employment opportunities, and navigate the challenges that can come with transitioning to adulthood.

You will work alongside colleagues, local authorities and partner agencies to ensure young people receive the practical and emotional support they need to succeed.

About You

• Have experience supporting individuals who may have experienced trauma, adversity, or instability, and can remain calm and effective when responding to periods of heightened distress or conflict.
• Have strong partnership-working and advocacy skills.
• Can demonstrate resilience, perseverance, and a solution-focused approach.
• Hold, or are willing to work towards, an NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have daily access to a vehicle.
