Job summary

BDS Recruitment is seeking a Housing Support Worker for the Penryn centre. The role supports vulnerable tenants to maintain tenancy and live independently in a setting of 6 shared flats with up to 12 residents.

You will assess risks, maintain safeguarding policies and work across a small, dedicated team to help residents access social, educational and employment opportunities. DBS will be required and a driving licence may be needed.

• Accurate record keeping and computer skills.

Job title: Housing support worker

Location: Penryn

Hours: 22.2 hours per week over 3 days on a rolling rota between 8.30am and 8.30pm

Contract: 6 month fixed term with potential for extension

Salary: £15.36 per hour paye or £19.64 per hour via umbrella

BDS Recruitment are looking for an experienced Housing Support Worker to work in the centre of Penryn. The complex consists of 6 shared flats up to 12 residents.

The role will include supporting vulnerable tenants who may have a history of mental health issues, substance misuse or homelessness to maintain their tenancies and live independently.

Key duties:

• Providing responsive, person-centred assistance to individuals with complex needs, helping them achieve positive outcomes and independence.
• Build open and trusting relationships with residents, colleagues, and partner agencies to ensure seamless and comprehensive support.
• Encourage individuals to engage in social, educational and employment opportunities, preventing isolation and promoting self-determination.
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain professional boundaries, ensuring health, safety and compliance with safeguarding policies.

Essential Criteria:

• Have an understanding of support needs and support planning.
• Have experience of risk assessing and risk management.
• Have accurate record keeping and computer skills.
• Confident in lone working and be a good team player.
• Have a flexible working approach to work.

Desirable:

• Experience within a supported housing setting
• Understanding of tenancy agreements

An enhanced DBS will be required and a car driver is required in case of occasional cover to other sites
