Job summary

Peabody is hiring a Support Worker for our Young People’s Service, helping 18-24-year-olds including those leaving care or experiences of homelessness. This is a semi-independent housing setting with guidance rather than personal care, aimed at building confidence, life skills and moving toward independent living.

You’ll join a team, manage support plans, risk assessments and reviews, and support budgeting and tenancy tasks while promoting engagement with education and services.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Be able to work with 18–24 year olds in a semi-independent housing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people to achieve their goals and live independently.
  • Complete support plans, risk assessments and regular reviews.
  • Help with budgeting, cooking, cleaning and tenancy management.
  • Encourage engagement with education, employment, training and community services.
  • Work with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
  • Keep accurate records and maintain safeguarding standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a supportive team.

We're looking for a Support Worker to join our Young People's Service, supporting 18-24-year-olds, including young people leaving care and those who have experienced homelessness.

This is a semi-independent housing service, meaning you'll provide support and guidance rather than personal care.

You’ll help young people build confidence, develop life skills, and move towards independent living, making a real difference to their future.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting young people to achieve their goals and live independently
  • Completing support plans, risk assessments, and regular reviews
  • Helping with everyday life skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and managing a tenancy
  • Encouraging engagement with education, employment, training, and community services
  • Working with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for young people
  • Keeping accurate records and maintaining safeguarding standards
  • Working both independently and as part of a supportive team

Shift Pattern

This Role Works On a 2-week Rolling Rota, Including

  • Weekday shifts
  • Approximately one weekend shift per week
  • Some Bank Holiday working
  • No sleep-ins required
Additional Information
  • Enhanced DBS check required
  • Full driving licence preferred but not essential
  • Travel to training in Houghton Regis and occasionally other Hertfordshire locations will be required
