Job description
Support Worker (2 positions)

Hours: 30 hours per week × 38 weeks.

As an award‑winning college, we are always looking for exceptional staff to join our team. We truly value our support staff who play a key role in supporting and developing our students. Duties will include working in the classroom to provide support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that they can integrate as fully as possible in learning activities alongside their mainstream peers. Using intervention techniques to manage emotional and behavioural issues will form a large part of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one‑to‑one and group support to most vulnerable SEND students in and out of the classroom.
  • Develop supportive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Use strategies to promote and reinforce student self‑esteem and independence.
  • Support the class tutor and exercise initiative to manage student needs.
  • Implement intervention techniques to address emotional and behavioural challenges.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A*–C) including English Language and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational capacity, preferably within the FE sector.
  • Good understanding of EHCPs and SEND, with knowledge of different learning needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both under direction and with initiative.

Training: You will receive induction training and additional training in specific difficulties such as dyslexia and ADHD.
