Job summary

RTC Resources Ltd. in Middlesbrough is recruiting an experienced Support Worker to provide complex needs support with behaviours that challenge. This full-time role is 36–48 hours per week, paid at £14.50 per hour, with enhanced staffing and a strong focus on safeguarding and de-escalation.

You will work with a specialist care team, following care plans, recording accurate notes, and promoting dignity, choice and independence for service users.

Qualifications

• Previous UK care/support experience with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
• Experience in enhanced staffing packages or intensive support settings.
• Practical experience managing physical aggression and escalation.

Support Worker - Complex Needs | Middlesbrough

RTC Resources is recruiting experienced Support Workers on behalf of a specialist care provider in Middlesbrough.

This opportunity suits someone with practical experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including behaviours that challenge and physical aggression. You will work alongside colleagues within an enhanced staffing model, which may include 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 support.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent, person-centred support in line with agreed care and behavioural support plans.
• Identify triggers and early warning signs, using de-escalation to reduce distress.
• Support communication, personal care, daily routines and meaningful activities.
• Assist with medication and community access as required by the care plan.
• Maintain accurate care records and report incidents or safeguarding concerns.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and clinical professionals.
• Follow least restrictive practice, with physical intervention restricted to authorised situations within current training and competency.

Essential requirements

• Previous UK care/support experience with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
• Experience of enhanced staffing packages or comparable intensive support settings.
• Practical experience managing physical aggression and behavioural escalation.
• Strong de-escalation, communication and teamwork skills.
• A clear understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• DMI/Dynamis training is highly desirable. Current or recent PMVA or other recognised physical intervention training may be considered following review and any required further training.
