Job summary

RTC Resources Ltd is seeking an experienced Support Worker for a permanent role in Leicester to support individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours.

You will join an enhanced staffing team (3:1 to 5:1) delivering personalised care plans, promoting dignity, independence and safeguarding. Strong de‑escalation, communication and teamwork are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Previous UK care/support experience with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
• Experience of enhanced staffing arrangements or intensive support services.
• Experience managing behavioural escalation and physical aggression.
• Strong communication, de-escalation and teamwork skills.
• Sound safeguarding knowledge and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate support that promotes dignity, choice and independence.
• Work with individual care plans, risk assessments and behavioural strategies.
• Recognise early warning signs and de-escalate to prevent escalation.
• Support personal care, medications, meals, routines and community activities.
• Keep accurate records and escalate safeguarding concerns promptly.

• Follow least restrictive practice and intervene physically only when trained and authorised.

Support Worker - Complex Needs | Leicester

£14.50 per hour | Permanent | 36-48 hours per week

RTC Resources is recruiting experienced Support Workers for permanent opportunities with a specialist care provider in Leicester.

This role is suited to someone with experience delivering structured support to individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge. You will work within an enhanced staffing team, which may include 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 support.

The role involves

• Providing compassionate support that promotes dignity, choice and independence.
• Working to individual care plans, risk assessments and behavioural support strategies.
• Recognising early warning signs and using de-escalation to prevent escalation.
• Supporting personal care, medication, meals, daily routines and community activities as required.
• Keeping accurate records and promptly escalating safeguarding concerns.
• Collaborating with colleagues, families and other professionals.
• Following least restrictive practice and participating in physical intervention only when authorised and within current training and competency.

Essential experience and skills

• Previous UK care/support experience with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
• Experience of enhanced staffing arrangements or comparable intensive support services.
• Practical experience managing behavioural escalation and physical aggression.
• Effective communication, de‑escalation and teamwork skills.
• Sound safeguarding knowledge and professional boundaries.

DMI/Dynamis training is highly desirable. Candidates with current or recent PMVA or other recognised physical intervention training may be considered, subject to review and any required training or assessment.
